Wedding Scene - Act 1
The Savonlinna Opera Festival chose the Asian American team of Henry Akina, Anne Namba and Dean Shibuya to create their festival opening production in 2009. Akina's experience in opera houses all over the world combined with Namba's reputation as Hawaii's leading fashion designer and Shibuya's experience in both scenic design and architecture formed a team that not only had the skills and talents to create a striking production but with our unique backgrounds in being brought up in Hawai'i it was thought that we would bring a fresh perspective to the story telling of this popular opera.
